Day Five!

Day five:

The fifth day started at 4 in the morning. We got up extremely early and went to the airport to fly to Sydney. This flight was my favorite because there wasn’t many people on it so I got to sit by my two best friends. It was very comfortable and I was not as nervous as I usually am. When we arrived in Sydney we pretty much got right to it. Alec took us on a walking tour of the city. He pointed out all kinds of cool things. We even got to see a subway the one of the Matrix movies was filmed in. We ate lunch in a very large food court. And then we went up into the Sydney sky tower. The view was phenomenal and I got my first ever glimpses of the Sydney bridge and the Sydney Opera House. After the sky tower we walked even more and went to the Sydney harbor. I got some beautiful pictures of the opera house. After that photo op we proceded to the rocks. And got to go to the market there. We saw so many beautiful things at the shops it was so much fun. It was still raining when we left. Part of the group took the train to go back and the other part walked. I  am so glad that I walked because I got to see even more of Sydney, it didn’t even matter that my feet were killing me. I was pretty wet but I had a good time. After the adventure of getting lost in Sydney at night I was so tired. I stayed in at the hotel and got to have pizza for dinner. Pizza never tasted so good in my life.

Prompt: Compare / Contrast Sydney with other cities
Response: My first impression of Sydney was that it reminded me of Chicago except there was more elbow room and it was much cleaner. Normally I don’t like big cities. I think that they are too crowded, dirty , and really scary. But somehow I felt quite comfortable in Sydney. The park we walked through was amazing. I could have spent hours reading and sketching in one of those amazing trees. In Sydney I felt much more comfortable walking the streets to get to where we were going. In Chicago I feel somewhat unsafe and sorta dirty. Something I like about both cities is that they both have lots of public art. I think sculptures and architecture really give a city its character. Both Chicago and Sydney have the art and architecture that give them character. The park in Sydney was incredible. I wish we had one like that Chicago. I imagine that park to be similar to Central Park in New York City. I think Sydney is much prettier than Chicago. The Sydney harbor was similar to Navy Pier in Chicago. Except, again, it was sooo much prettier. The Sydney Opera House was the most amazing thing I have ever seen in my life, and the Sydney Bridge was magnificent. Chicago seems like a let down to me after seeing such a beautiful city. I think I could be okay with living in the city if Chicago was more like Sydney. Then I wouldn’t be nervous to go to the school that I want to. I’ve always been a small town type person so for me I most enjoyed Rotarua. But Sydney was just fine. It had beauty everywhere you looked. If I ever lived in a city I would want it to be one like Sydney because it felt safe and it was clean and not crowded.
