Day three!

Day three:
The beginning of day three was amazing because I got to see the most beautiful sunrise of my life. The colors were so beautiful that I didn’t want it to end. After taking tons of pictures of the sunrise we proceded to go on our duck tour. I personally loved it because ducks are my favorite animals. We got plastic duck bills and quacked at people walking on the street. On the tour I learned a lot about the area which was really interesting. After the duck tour we went to Whakawerawere, a traditional Maori village. We got to go on a tour and learn about their history and how they live off of the thermal springs. It was one of my favorite things from the trip. after touring the Maori village  we went to the agro dome to see a sheep show! It was really entertaining. We learned about farming there and got to go up close to the animals. There was so many sheep! After the agrodome we went to the ogo. A lot of people did the ogo but I chose not to because I didn’t want to spend the money and I get cold far too easily. But I had fun watching and taking pictures. After the ogo we got to attend a hangi dinner. I thought it was so amazing because we really got to see into their culture. The music and dancing was wonderful and I had a great time.
Daily Journal
Prompt: Reflections of day two afternoon / Morning * Cultural things?
Response: Morning: In the morning of day two there was the most beautiful sunrise I have ever seen. I believe it to be something cultural. I know we have them at home but this one was so incredibly beautiful that it felt special to just New Zealand. After many pictures of the gorgeous sunrise we were ready to go on the duck boat tour. This tour was really fun especially since ducks are my favorite animals. Most of the time I was freezing cold but I didn’t want that to stop my fun. I loved the duck call things – smile! The tour of the thermal village was just incredible as I thought it would be if not more. Everything was fun to learn about and everything was beautiful to look at. By the end of the tour I wanted to live in that village.
Afternoon: In the afternoon of day two we started off by going to the Ayrodome. The show was great fun but getting pooed on by a baby goat and laughed at by about 15 teenagers was really not. That part was embarrassing and upsetting. I also thought that the sheep shearing was scary because the guy was really rough with the sheep. After the Ayrodome we headed off to the ogo. The ogo is quite something… It’s different to say the least. I didn’t want to participate in it because it was really cold and I didn’t want to chance getting sick. After the ogo we went to a hangi dinner. The entire experience was mesmerizing and beautiful. I really felt like I got a better idea of the ancient culture. We really did see what they wore/sang and we got to eat the food the original way that they prepared it. The entire experience was completely incredible and I am so thankful for being able to do that.
